While the rest of the world has been going on with their daily lives, the car community has been eagerly hunched over their computers, foaming at the mouth while they await news about the mid engine C8 Corvette.
Well wait no more, our sources have come through and the news is breaking the internet.
The 2019 Chevy Corvette, codenamed ZERV will be making its debut appearance at the North American International Auto Show in January 2018. As we understand it, the C8 has a pushrod V-8 that can produce up to 500 horsepower and will have a base price of at least $80,000.
And with this new king of the Corvette world slated to take the throne, you can expect a resignation of the traditional C7 in 2018, although they should remain in stock for all of the romantics out there, preferring the traditional layout.
An impressive upgrade to the C8 is scheduled to occur in January 2019 with a 4 cam, 32-valve V-8 being presented, likely bringing the top price of the C8 to around $100,000
The folks over at car and driver managed to grab aerial photos of the experimental C8s housed in Building 54 at GM’s Milford, Michigan track, where it has been placed up against some seriously tough competition including Ferrari 458s, and possibly a McLaren.
GM also owns a Nissan GT-R, two Porsche 911 Turbos, and a BMW i-8 which have more than likely been put up against the C8 to ensure that it can hold its own with sports car royalty.
