I know that we just finished writing an article series on car maintenance tips for the summer, but now that we are mid way through July, Autumn is just around the corner.

Oh how the time flies.

While it may be a month or more (or less depending on where you live) before you will actually need to implement these tips, it is best to take care of all of your maintenance early in the season to prevent breakdowns.

Like the old saying goes, “It is better to do car maintenance early and not need it, than to need car maintenance and not have done it” or something like that.

Anyways, here are a few DIY maintenance tips to make your autumn driving a blast.

1. Change Your Wiper Blades

While the weather can vary widely depending on your location, most places experience an increase in inclement weather in the fall and winter months. This makes driving with old or broken windshield highly hazardous.

Be sure to replace this as soon as summer ends and the cooler months begin.

2. Check Your Spare TireĀ

Hopefully, you will never actually need to use your spare tire, but it’s nice to know that if things go sour you have a way to repair your vehicle and get back on the road.

With icy roads and changes in air pressure, it is always a good idea to make sure that your spare tire is properly inflated and good to go should anything happen.

It will take you less than 10 minutes and could save you hours of waiting on the road for AAA.
